Troop 618 sent it's smallest Brigade yet, consisting of just three Scouts, but still won many fabulous prizes in the Mountain Man competitions held at Fort Pico Blanco this year.
In the competition for best dressed Mountain Man in the elite (3+ years participants) category, Troop 618 Scouts James, Max, and Dean swept the awards taking the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards.
Scout Dean won a competition for marksmanship with Black Powder rifles.
Troop 618's Brigade participated in the first ever (for the LP Rendezvous) Cast Iron Chef contest, where three teams were each given an old Dutch oven to clean and season, and ten ingredients each of which had to be included in a one pot dinner. Troop 618 took first place with a delicious duck and vegetable stew with orange sauce topped with a bacon weave.
Last but certainly not least, the Troop 618 Brigade was once again awarded fabulous new candle lanterns for having the one camp judged neatest and tidiest in all of Rendezvous. The judges were particularly impressed by a well turned out table with the finest wooden plates and bowls, wrought iron handled cooking utensils and cast iron cookware. In this camp there was everything a well equipped Mountain Man needs, and nothing out of place anywhere.
